Should you select a Classic Toy or a Computer Game for your child?

The childrens toys for babies and toddlers are numerous. There are many now that are technologically based. The switch from blocks to interactive toys is necessary. However, it also removes some of the basic learning skills inherent in the old classic wooden toys.

Classic childrens toys are "hands on" with simplistic methods of solving a problem. It may have been completing a puzzle or building a small tower made of little pieces. By doing these tasks one learns stimulative thinking, problem solving and creativity emerges.. The only way some individuals can learn is by experimenting via hands-on and touch.

Classic wood toys are known for their ability to develop motor skills and their durability. These toys usually last throughout a child's toddler years and beyond. Some even last from one generation to the next. Unlike computer games whose life expectancy is a year or two.

Children's wooden toys are a value relative to the cost. No they are not shiny and plastic that need batteries, nor are they easily broken and soon cast aside for the next new thing.
